Keys to Answered Prayer

In some societies and religions, prayer has become a routine. People have to do it. But when it comes to receiving answers to prayers, God requires some effort and requirement on our part. What is it that makes our prayers heard in heaven? There are a number of things that we can look into if we want our prayers to be answered. So in this study I am going to point out some of the major areas that we need to examine if we are going to receive an answer to our prayers.

First I want to ask you a question. Do you believe in Jesus Christ? A lot of people have come to me and have asked me to pray for them. They had their own opinions about Jesus. Some just wanted me to pray for them so that they could be healed. Some had their own agenda. So the real issue is believing in something. If a person really believes in the name of Jesus and his faith is in what Jesus has done for him/her on the cross of the Calvary his prayers will be answered much faster. So the first and the most important step to receive an answer to prayer is to: Believe in the name of Jesus. Believe that He had died on the cross for your sins. Believe that He has washed away all your sins. Believe that He rose from the dead on the third day. Believe that He is the way, the truth and the life. Believe it in your heart. Refer to John 3:16-18.

The second step to receiving an answer to prayer is to ask God about your needs. In Matthew 7:7 He said " ask and and ye shall receive". One of the reasons that He asked us to ask Him about our needs is is to remind ourselves that we are dependent upon God for our daily needs. We cannot rely on people because they cannot give us long lasting peace. God loves all of us but when it comes to trusting and relying upon God for his provision we must focus our attention on Jesus. When we ask in faith, we can rest assured that God will answer our prayers.

The third point to receiving an answer to prayer is approach God in faith. Remember we can only please God by faith. We know that God exists and he He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Faith is something that we believe without seeing. It is also very important to know where we put our faith. So believe in God. To believe in God is to believe in His son Jesus. Pray according to the words Jesus said in Luke 17:6 . Jesus answered ."if you had faith [trust and confidence in God ] even so small like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you." Pray without any feelings. Pray in faith in what Jesus said.

The fourth point in receiving an answer to prayer is to believe his word. What Jesus said about our problem in His word is the answer to our needs. In other words ask yourself: What does the word say about your problem? Therefore it is very important to have the word of God ready whenever you ask anything from from God. If the word promises you something, you better go for it. Two scripture verses that can cover any need that you may have are:
1. Mark 11:24
2. John 16:23-24

Use scripture verses while praying. God is going to honor His word.

The fifth most important point to consider while praying is to remember that God has granted your prayer request the moment you prayed. In other words, when you pray, believe that you receive your answer if the request is based on Gods word. Believe that you receive when you pray. Refer to Mark 11:24. You have to go against your negative circumstances and trust in what the word of God says. When you believe God's word like this, you are bound to receive your answers to your prayers when you pray.

Lastly you may want to praise God for the answer. The answer may be instant. Or it may be slow or it may take some time. But as long as you remain in faith in God's word, the answer to your prayer will materialize. Add praise to your prayer. Praise shows your direct dependence on God. It shows your trust and confidence in God despite the problem you may be facing. So praise God for the answer. Praise puts our focus on God and not on our problems. God's power, presence and His ability will start to flow in our lives which will turn the situation in our favor.

Have a blessed day.
